Black Label Society headlined a show at Bayou Music Center in Houston, Tx on September 3rd, 2026 with support from Zakk Sabbath and Dark Chapel on their American Crusade Tour!
Some nights are concerts. Others are declarations of war against silence. When Black Label Society and Zakk Sabbath storm the stage, subtlety is nowhere on the agenda. The night becomes a celebration of everything that makes heavy metal timeless. Massive riffs, screaming guitars, thunderous drums, towering vocals, and an audience willing to surrender itself completely to the volume.
At the center of it all stands Zakk Wylde, a larger-than-life figure whose signature combination of blues-soaked guitar playing and crushing metal riffs has made him one of the genre’s most recognizable musicians.
Before Black Label Society took over, Zakk Sabbath stripped everything back to the source. The project, built around Wylde’s love for Black Sabbath, isn’t simply a tribute act. It’s a full-volume pilgrimage to the foundation of heavy metal.
The opening riffs immediately transformed the room. Those unmistakable Tony Iommi guitar lines sounded every bit as massive as they did decades ago, while Wylde injected his own personality into the material without losing the sinister weight that made Black Sabbath revolutionary.
Songs like “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” and “Fairies Wear Boots” carried an almost ritualistic power. The crowd didn’t simply recognize the songs, they lived inside them. Wylde’s guitar tone was enormous, delivering every riff with enough force to shake the walls while his vocals brought a rougher, more ferocious edge to the classics.

Where Zakk Sabbath celebrated the roots of metal, Black Label Society represented the evolution of that sound into something uniquely Wylde. The opening moments were drenched in distortion, feedback, and the unmistakable roar of a Gibson Les Paul pushed far beyond its limits.
Wylde is the kind of performer who doesn’t merely play guitar, he attacks it. His solos became extended showcases of everything that has defined his career. Blues phrasing, pinch harmonics, screaming bends, rapid-fire runs, and enough sustain to make every note feel like it was hanging in the air long after it was played.
Black Label Society’s biggest strength has always been its ability to balance brutality with vulnerability. Tracks like “Funeral Bell,” “Suicide Messiah,” “In This River,” and “Stillborn” demonstrated the band’s ability to move between crushing heaviness and moments of genuine emotional weight.
“In This River” remained one of the night’s most powerful moments. Originally written as a tribute to Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, the song carries an emotional gravity that hits differently in a live setting. With Wylde behind the piano and guitar, the performance became less about spectacle and more about remembrance.
Black Label Society and Zakk Sabbath offered more than a night of loud music. Together, they created a timeline of heavy metal. Zakk Sabbath looked backward, honoring the sound that started it all. Black Label Society looked forward, demonstrating what happens when those foundational riffs are filtered through the mind of one of metal’s most distinctive guitarists.
And standing between those two worlds was Zakk Wylde himself. Part historian, part madman, part bluesman, and completely metal.
