Clutch & Rival Sons co-headlined at Bayou Music Center in Houston, Tx on October 4th, 2024 with support from Black Stone Cherry on the Two-Headed Beast Tour! Both bands performed the majority of songs on one of their best-loved albums: “Blast Tyrant” for CLUTCH and “Great Western Valkyrie” for RIVAL SONS.
Vocalist Neil Fallon declared in their 2013 track “Earth Rocker”:
“If you’re gonna do it, do it live on stage, or don’t do it at all”
Clutch is an American rock band originating from Germantown, Maryland and was formed in 1991. Their current lineup consists of vocalist/rhythm guitarist Neil Fallon, lead guitarist Tim Suit, bassist Dan Maines, drummer/percussionist Jean-Paul Caster.
Clutch originally released their critically acclaimed studio album “Blast Tyrant” on March 23rd, 2004, and were met with an outpouring of love and acclaim from fans and industry alike.
Clutch began their set by performing “Blast Tyrant” in it’s entirety from front to back, with classics such as “The Mob Goes Wild” and “The Regulator”. Since their early inception, Clutch has pioneered stoner rock. Signing to their own record label Weathermaker Music back in 2008. Neil Fallon has become a well renowned frontman in their genre and owns the stage the minute he walks on it.
Upon completing “Blast Tyrant“, they concluded their set with some hits throughout their illustrious career. First of which was my personal favorite of theirs, “Spacegrass“. After Fallon insisted “but now please step out of the vehicle”, he immersed the audience in a complete journey!
Once around the Sun, cruising, climbing.
Jupiter cyclops winks at me, yeah, he knows who’s driving.
Hit neutral in the tail of a comet.
Let the vortex pull my weight.
Push the seat back a little lower.
Watch light bend in the blower.
Planets align.
A king is born.

This was to be followed by four more deep cuts “I Have the Body of John Wilkes Booth“, “Animal Farm“, “In Walks Barbarella“, and it was only fitting to close with “A Quick Death in Texas“. These last tracks were a pleasant surprise as they were randomized throughout the tour! The Two-Headed Beast Tour was truly one for the books.

Rival Sons is an American rock band originating from Long Beach, California and was formed in 2009. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Jay Buchanan, lead guitarist/backing vocalist Scott Holiday, bassist/backing vocalist Dave Beste, drummer/backing vocalist Mike Miley.
Scott Holiday, guitarist of RIVAL SONS, said:
“We’ve wanted to put something together with CLUTCH for a long time! They’re one of the acts that we could notice people repping at our shows, so we’ve always thought it could make a really great double bill! Happy to bring ‘The Two-Headed Beast’ to life! The riff will be strong on this tour …as will the good times!”

Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist/lead and rhythm guitarist Chris Robertson, rhythm and lead guitarist/backing vocalist Ben Wells, bassist/backing vocalist Steve Jewell Jr., drummer/percussionist/backing vocalist John Fred Young.
