John 5 headlined at White Oak Music Hall in Houston, TX on February 23rd, 2024 with support from Marty Friedman on his Winter tour!

For over 30 years, JOHN 5 has been one of the most in-demand guitar players on the planet. As well being as a songwriter/guitarist for hire, JOHN 5 has shared the stage as axe-man for Rob ZombieMarilyn Manson and Rob Halford. He has also worked with an impressive array of names, from all walks of music, including KD LangRod StewartDavid Lee RothAlice CooperTina Guo, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Meatloaf, Dolly Parton, and Ricky Martin.  He’s currently the live guitarist for Mötley Crüe following the retirement of Mick Mars from touring.

John 5 said:

“I’m busy, constantly busy with work but I look at who I am in the studio with or sending music to and I think I don’t ever want it to stop.”

To call JOHN 5 a shredder does not do him justice. There’s little he can’t put his hand to.

John 5 was born John William Lowery, on July 31st 1970, in Grosse Pointe Michigan. His love of guitar began at age seven, when he began watching the Hee Haw series with his father.

John 5 said:

“I watched the guitar playing and knew that was what I wanted to do. My friends wanted to be astronauts and such but all I wanted to do was play and play and play”.

Other notable influences included KISS and Jimi Hendrix.

John 5 said:

“It doesn’t matter if I’m in front of 500 people or 50,000. As long as I have my guitar in my hand, I’m super psyched and it’s a good day.”

“I’m a nice guy. I’m very kind and considerate to everybody, sweet to everybody. I don’t want anyone to have a bad day. I just want everyone to be happy and all that stuff. But those are the ones you gotta watch out for. Those are always the scary ones – the really nice ones.”

It was a very packed house! Tons of fans wanted to get as close as they could to witness the Tele-wielding virtuoso. He arrived in his iconic white sleeveless coat carrying his “Ghost” signature telecaster.

To experience John 5 live is nothing short of extraordinary. His range of guitar playing is otherworldly. Unlike most performers, John loves to switch up his instruments and play styles. From playing regular sized guitars, mini guitars, bass guitars, and banjos. He transitions from rock, metal, country, and bluegrass with ease. He performed an hour long set with non-stop action!

This tour he left out his masks, costume changes, and other stage props. It was less theatric and more intimate. It felt like he was attempting to connect with the crowd more. Handing out gum (used and new), guitar picks, his flashing mouth piece, and even playing with fans using a toy gun. Although, he brought out his mascot wearing the big John 5 head and also distributed John 5 themed white balloons to the audience to keep the energy high! It wouldn’t be a John 5 show without some videoboards flashing cultural and horror references from the past decades as well.

He worked through his set performing songs “Que Pasa“, “Strung Out“, “Creep Show“, a medley of Motley Crue songs, “The Star Spangled Banner” (with his teeth), “Land of Misfit Toys“, and many others! There was no shortage of variety and shredding that pleased the crowd and kept them wanting more!

His presence is felt wherever he performs, whether it’s solo or he’s supporting other huge industry bands! If you haven’t seen this guitar legend then do yourself a favor and see one of his performances in the future. You won’t regret it!
