Mudvayne headlined a show at Bayou Music Center in Houston, Tx on October 13th, 2025 with support from Static-X, and Vended on their L.D. 50 25th anniversary tour!
This tour commemorates the 25 year milestone of Mudvayne’s debut album L.D. 50, while also celebrating 25 years of Static-X’s classic album Wisconsin Death Trip at the same time.
Mudvayne is an American nu metal band originating from Peoria, Illinois and was formed in 1996. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist Chad Gray, guitarist/backing vocalist Greg Tribett, bassist Ryan Martinie, and drummer Matthew McDonough. Unfortunately, guitarist Greg Tribbett sat out due to personal loss.
Mudvayne originally released their critically acclaimed studio album L.D. 50 on August 20, 2000, and over time were met with an outpouring of love and acclaim from fans and industry alike.
L.D. 50 is widely regarded as a seminal work in the nu-metal and alternative metal field. Both technically ambitious and unorthodox. By performing L.D. 50 nearly in its entirety, Mudvayne taps into their fanbase longing for that era. Performing with their tight, complex rhythms, odd time signatures, standout bass work by Ryan Martinie, and frontman Chad Gray’s vocal stamina. On stage, delivering those songs recognizably is a testament to the band’s longevity. The fans were clearly excited about hearing classic tracks like “Dig”, “Death Blooms,” and “Nothing to Gein” live again. There’s rare value in hearing L.D. 50 almost in its entirety. Also, including huge hits such as “World So Cold“, “Determined“, “Not Falling“, and “Happy?” to conclude their set.
The show felt like stepping back into the early 2000s nu-metal era, but with a more experienced band that has withstood the test of time. Their performance was nostalgic yet unrelenting. The songs still hit as hard as they used to and bring back memories with a heavy sense of nostalgia. Mudvayne has matured, but they haven’t lost their edge, especially on L.D. 50 material.
Chad Gray exclaimed:
“I am a fucking fan of fucking metal. Outside of being up here and doing what I do, I’m am a fucking fan. And I will continue to be a fan for my entire mother fucking life, because it saved my fucking life people. This is a room full of people, whether you know it or not, that actually fucking love each other. That actually have respect for each other. That genuinely fucking care for each other. We fucking give a fuck mother fuckers. We care about each other god dammit. So what we’re going to do tonight is we’re all going to fucking release. We’re all going to check our fucking bullshit at the door. Trust me, it will be here when you fucking leave.”
