311 has long stood as a beacon of innovation in modern rock. With more than three decades together, the band shows no signs of slowing down. Known for constantly evolving and refining its sound, 311 remains as vital as ever, delivering a refreshing and compelling take on modern rock.

Originating from Omaha, Nebraska, the band — comprised of Nick Hexum (vocals, guitar), S. A. Martinez (vocals, turntables), Chad Sexton (drums), P-Nut (bass) and Tim Mahoney (lead guitar) — has become a fixture in the global music landscape. Their legacy is defined by innovation, dedication and a rare achievement in the industry: maintaining their original lineup while continually evolving a signature blend of rock, reggae, funk and rap.

These are two headlining concerts you won’t want to miss—only at Space Center Houston’s Moon 2 Mars Festival, presented by Wellby Financial.

Plus, guests of all ages can enjoy daily science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activations included with general admission.

The festival offers a daytime destination to explore and create spring break memories with family, friends, or as a solo traveler—along with unforgettable evenings under the stars. At Space Center Houston, guests can discover more than 400 space artifacts, experience immersive attractions including the American premiere of The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks, and enjoy interactive exhibits such as Mission: Sketch, designed to inspire the next generation of space explorers.

When 311 takes the stage, the vibe is immediate! Positivity, nostalgia, and a groove that refuses to sit still. Decades into their career, the Omaha oriented band still knows how to turn a venue into a laid-back but high-energy celebration of alternative rock.

From the opening moments, the band’s chemistry was undeniable. Vocalist and guitarist Nick Hexum and co-frontman S.A. Martinez traded vocals with effortless precision, their harmonies gliding across the band’s signature fusion of rock riffs, reggae rhythms, and hip-hop cadence. Behind them, guitarist Tim Mahoney layered shimmering tones over the groove-heavy rhythm section of bassist P‑Nut (Aaron Wills) and drummer Chad Sexton, creating the unmistakable 311 sound.

The setlist leaned heavily into the band’s deep catalog of fan favorites. Songs like “Beautiful Disaster,” “All Mixed Up,” “Come Original,” “Sunset In July,” and “Amber” sparked instant sing-alongs, while heavier cuts like “Champagne” and “Creatures (For a While)” injected bursts of raw energy into the night.

One of the standout moments arrived during “Applied Science,” when Sexton launched into a jaw-dropping drum solo that eventually pulled the entire band into a synchronized percussion jam. An iconic live segment that demonstrates the group’s tight musicianship and playful showmanship.

Throughout the performance, the band emphasized the positivity that has long defined their fan community. Hexum frequently addressed the crowd between songs, encouraging fans to sing along and reminding everyone that the band’s mission has always been about creating a shared experience of energy and connection.

The night reached its peak during the closing stretch, when the unmistakable opening riff of “Down” sent the crowd into a final explosion of movement and voices. It was the perfect ending to a performance that celebrated both nostalgia and endurance.

More than three decades into their career, 311 remain a unique force in alternative rock. Their genre-blending sound and relentlessly positive stage presence continue to turn every show into something more than just a concert. It’s a communal celebration of the band’s legacy and the fans who’ve grown alongside it.
