King Buzzo & Trevor Dunn headlined at The Bronze Peacock at House of Blues in Houston, Tx on September 20th, 2024 with support from JD Pinkus on their King Dunn Tour!
Osborne and Dunn have collaborated several times over the years, including Dunn’s participation in King Buzzo’s 2020 album, Gift of Sacrifice, as well as both being members of Fantômas, and Dunn’s work as a part of Melvins Lite. On the “King Dunn Tour,” Dunn plays a stand-up concert bass, while Osborne sings and plays acoustic guitar.
Buzz Osborne shares.
I’ve been waiting a LONG time to do an acoustic tour with Trevor. He’s a fantastic player, and has the ability to make his bass sound like an oil tanker crashing into a coral reef.”
The Bronze Peacock was the perfect setting for this evening’s acoustical offerings. Opening the show JD Pinkus (Butthole Surfers and Melvins) armed only with his banjo and a backing track, played a mix of songs spanning his career with bands such as Daddy Longlegs, Honky, Melvins and his own solo career. Opening with “Fungus Shui Trinty”, “Happy Cow” and “Woke Up Dead”
With Melvins frontman Buzz Osbourne (King Buzzo) on acoustic guitar and Mr. Bungle bassist Trevor Dunn on stand-up Bass the duo took to the stage to give the crowed what they had come for, a trip through both the past and present. Buzz has two solo releases to draw from, and a collaboration of music with Trevor, the setlist covered all eras of the Melvins, both of Buzz’s solo offerings and Buzz & Trevor’s Eat the Spray release, including the recent Dicks cover, “Sidewalk Begging“! Opening the show with “Hung Bunny“, “Roman Dog Bird”, and “Dark Brown Teeth”. King and Dunn included other notable songs “Roman Dog Bird“, and “Laid Back Walking” as part of their set, closing the night with classics “Boris”, ”Revolve”, and a great cover of “Shock Me” by KISS.
